SKY DENTAL CLINIC
Paediatric Dentistry
We see a lot of children. Children with their first wobbly tooth, children who've been told the dentist is scary and arrive expecting the worst, children who are old hands and want to know what the new machine does. Our dentists are exceptionally good with young patients — calm, patient, honest about what's about to happen, and never rushed. The single most important thing we can do for a child is make their early visits to the dentist feel safe and unremarkable. The dental health follows from there.
Check-ups and cleanings
Regular check-ups and cleanings for children follow the same careful, unhurried approach as our adult appointments, scaled to small mouths and short attention spans. We use the time to teach as much as to clean — how to brush properly, where to floss, what to look out for between visits — so that good habits are in place before problems are.
Fissure sealants
The chewing surfaces of the back teeth have deep grooves where plaque collects and toothbrush bristles can't reach. A fissure sealant is a thin, tooth-coloured resin painted into those grooves and set with a curing light, sealing them off before decay has a chance to start. It is quick, painless, and one of the most effective preventative treatments in paediatric dentistry — applied to the permanent molars as they come through, it can protect a tooth for years.
In-rooms sedation
For children who are anxious, very young, or who need a longer treatment done in one go, we offer sedation in our rooms with a qualified paediatric anaesthetist. The child is comfortable and unaware throughout the appointment, the work is done in a single sitting, and parents can be in the room before and after. It is the safest, gentlest way to handle treatment that would otherwise be too much for a child to sit through.
Theatre for restorative work
Where the work is extensive — multiple fillings, extractions, or restorative treatment in a very young or very anxious child — we operate in hospital theatre under general anaesthetic, with a paediatric anaesthetist and the full support of the hospital team. Everything gets done in a single visit, the child remembers none of it, and we send them home with their dental health properly restored.
